Green Leaf Bistro 4.45/5

Green Leaf Bistro Restaurant Info

Feeling the need for comfort food on an overcast Saturday, Mr. Blue and Mr. Pink felt it was a good day for pho. When done well, there's nothing quite as satisfying as a big bowl of noodle soup. Today we decided to try Green Leaf Bistro, located on Blanshard near Fisgard.

Upon entering the bistro, we were greeted by friendly staff. The restaurant itself has been recently repainted and slightly renovated making for a clean environment. Compared to some of the other Vietnamese restaurants in town, the decor and table settings were quite a bit cleaner and well presented.

Mr. Blue and Mr. Pink split an order of pork and shrimp salad rolls, and each ordered #22 - pho with beef meatballs, rare steak, and tendon. Our food came within minutes of our order. The moderately priced rolls came in an order of four, served with a peanut sauce. The rolls themselves were quite flavourless; however, when dipped into the sauce they really transformed the dish into something quite delicious.
The pho came in a large bowl filled with an adequate amount of noodles and ingredients. However, the kitchen messed up our orders by adding beef flank instead of tendon. The staff were prompt in remedying the situation by bringing out the ingredients they have omitted in a side dish. The stock was not too salty, or murky like you sometimes see in pho. The noodles had a nice, springy texture, and were not too starchy. Like all pho places, fresh bean sprouts, coriander, lemon and jalapeƱo were served on the side. Mr. Blue and Mr. Pink agree that this was probably one of the best pho restaurants we've been to in town.
