One Fish, Two Fish - Check out "Red Fish Blue Fish!"

Pick-up Counter.
I've had the opportunity to dine at Red Fish Blue Fish before, but a recent Groupon served as a reminder to take a stroll down to Wharf St. Located right on the pier, Red Fish Blue Fish operates out of a modified cargo container, and is open 7 days a week, 11:30-5pm (or 3:00pm in poor weather).

Pacific Rim Chowder.

They have a delicious menu featuring fresh Ocean Wise seafood, ranging from classic fish and chips, to scallop tacones (seasonal scallops in tacos rolled into cones). They also serve sandwiches, chowder, salads and sides with their unique twist on them. During my last visit, I decided on the seafood chowder and the "cod dog" - a pretty hearty meal for $12.

Cod Dogs and Curry Fries.
I was very pleased with the piping hot cup of chowder, which was creamy, sweet and savoury, which really warmed to the core on a gusty day. While there was a generous portion of sweet corn on the chowder, the white fish was harder to find. Either way, the flavours were good, and that could have just been my luck with the ladle. The Cod Dog was a single fried piece of cod in a hotdog bun, garnished with tartar sauce, dilled dijounaise and pickled onions - delicious! The crunch from the batter, the softness of the fresh bun, and the moist, flakiness of the fish gave a  huge range in textures that complimented the bite. The only part of the meal I wasn't a fan of was the side of coleslaw. It wasn't a typical vinegary slaw, but more of a creamy, almost nutty one. The coleslaw had a nice texture, but the flavours seemed a little flat to me. As for the side of curry fries, it was  a tangy, tomato sauce style curry with green onions. Not bad, but nothing really to rave about.

In a previous visit, we tried the scallop tacones and the oyster tacones, which are only sometimes available. The scallops were very well cooked, with their natural sweetness really coming through. If oysters are more to your liking, the oyster tacone is definitely for you. Both were fresh and grilled to perfection. My only concern for these ones are that a single order won't be enough! If you're really hungry, be prepared to order extras.

Red Fish Blue Fish is a delicious seafood stop if you're in the downtown area, offering fresh and affordable dishes on the go. Definitely worth checking out!
