Pho Vy 4.50/5

Pho Vy Restaurant Info

The location is somewhat small and cramped, and has an odour of fish sauce in the air when you walk through the doors. The décor is old, and the rest of the interior isn’t all that attractive; however, don’t let the appearance fool you, Pho Vy is one of the best Vietnamese noodle restaurants in Victoria. It has also been one of the longest standing Vietnamese style restaurants in downtown, for good reason!

Of all of the Pho restaurants we’ve tried, few consistently produce pho noodle soup, vermicelli, noodle and prawn spring rolls and deep fried spring rolls as delicious as Pho Vy. On top of that, the portions are generous and the price is quite reasonable. Time and again Pho Vy has hit the spot in our tummies and does it just right every time.

We’ve tried various items on the menu, and one of Mr. Pink’s favourites is the vermicelli. Whether it’s the lemon grass chicken and spring roll, or the grilled pork and spring roll, the dish is satisfying and extremely flavourful. In regards to the pho, the broth has a deep savoury flavour without being overly salty or cloudy. The noodles aren’t overly starchy and are cooked al dente, and the various meats that are typical of pho restaurants are available. The sprouts are fresh along with the herbs to be added to the pho.  Mr. Blue enjoys the fully packed type of pho noodle soup that includes pretty much all the different kinds of options available. Again, the portion size is enough to fill the average person and left Mr. Blue completely packed. To go along with the meal, the Vietnamese coffee is always a delight being so rich, so creamy, and very sweetened.

Overall, Pho Vy is definitely worth considering if you’re in the mood for a satisfying bowl of rice noodles. We know you'll feel the same.
